Finding Good People: A Question of Value

Value is created when companies match the capabilities of technology  and human resources to market requirements, while remaining within capital limitations. Acquiring a 747 to do the job of a 737 will decrease the value of a company. Likewise, hiring people with inadequate or inappropriate skill sets will also waste capital and reduce shareholder value.

This is where Global Flyers’ unique three-phase hiring strategy® can help most. It is specifically designed to match the knowledge, skills, and abilities of our crews to your people specifications.

Global Flyers' Three-Phase Hiring Strategy®

Here’s How the Phase I of Our Strategy Works

  1. You provide us with your job specifications and people specifications. We will then act either as your agent in finding suitably qualified people or function as an independent employment agency, leasing required crewmembers to you. This reduces the costs and administrative headaches associated with recruiting and administration.
  2. We conduct all Phase I background checks and experience verifications. Our state-of-the-art research capabilities ensure the people you select actually possess the experience and qualifications listed on their CV’s. This reduces your hiring risk.
  3. At your request, we can arrange medical pre-tests such as chest x-rays, blood chemistry, thallium scans, or stress EKGs. This reduces the cost of comprehensive medical tests for candidates who are not likely to meet the standards of your country
  4. If required, we can conduct preliminary English skills testing, using internationally recognized tests such as TOEIC. This can eliminate candidates who may not be able to successfully complete technical training
  5. Upon request, we can test general aviation knowledge, attitude, and personality.  The results of these tests can help you structure interviews to the characteristics of individual candidates.  This can save you time and provide proper focus for each interview.

Here’s How Phase II of Our Strategy Works

Phase II involves face-to-face interviews and testing processes, which are normally conducted by the airline.  They are designed to evaluate the airmanship, trainability, and suitability of each candidate for work in the respective company culture.

The principals of Global Flyers have screened and hired hundreds of flight crewmembers for international airlines.  We understand your concerns and will provide you with background information that will simplify your evaluation processes.

If Global Flyers is retained solely on a consulting basis, structured interviews and simulator screening can be out-sourced to us.  We will not accept this responsibility if our firm functions as an employment agency or in the capacity of a crew leasing company.

When all Phase II evaluations have been completed and you have chosen candidates who meet your requirements, you will advise us of your choices and we will initiate all necessary pre-employment notifications and arrangements.  If you have contracted with Global Flyers for pre-hire training and qualification services, we will expect you to issue selected candidates a conditional offer of employment, subject only to completion of required training and licensing.

Here’s How Phase III of Our Strategy Works

Global Flyers Phase III services are designed to eliminate many of the administrative problems associated with hiring new employees and to substantially reduce the time and money needed to hire and qualify selected candidates.

  1. We produce most documentation required for issuance of work permits or resident visas.  Global Flyers employs a full-time attorney with international immigration experience.  This enables us to smooth the sometimes-difficult process of obtaining visas or residence permits.
  2. We provide certified background checks to satisfy local regulatory requirements.
  3. We can conduct FAA-approved pre-hire training and licensing courses.
  4. We can provide assistance in finding suitable local housing accommodations. Global Flyers appoints local representatives close to employment sites to support leased employees. This helps minimize the impact of settlement pressures on you.
  5. We will assume many post-hire administrative responsibilities related to leased employees. We have structured our payroll system to enable employees to tailor compensation to their personal needs in a tax-advantaged manner. Our careful planning and investment in off-shore payroll systems inevitably provide competitive advantages to our airlines clients.

High-level competition for a limited number of currently qualified crewmembers is the primary cause of high payroll costs. If your company is willing to hire highly experienced, but not currently qualified crewmembers, Global Flyers can provide them at reduced cost.

Additional time and money can be saved if you authorize Global Flyers to arrange required type training before candidates report for duty.  This training will be based on your SOPs and standard communication protocols, so post-hire training requirements are often reduced. In certain cases, we can even arrange for the issuance of local licenses under rules approved by regulatory authorities in your country.  Pre-training and pre-qualification prior to hire can produce a better qualified candidate, reduce the lead-time needed to hire suitable crewmembers, and cut costs substantially

Global Flyer’s unique Phase I, II, and III services make hiring painless and cost-effective. They are the foundation of our value-enhancement program, but are just one of the ways we can help add value to your company.
