Principals
As
with all companies, our people are the engines that drive
performance. Managing Director, Captain Robert R.
Bumgarner,
was one of the pioneers in the quality improvement movement
in the United States, having served as a Director of the
International Association of Quality Circles in the early
1970’s. More recently, he served as General Manager of
the Standardization Department and senior B747-400 check
airman with a major Pacific Rim airline. During 43 years
as an aviation professional, he has accumulated more than
23,000 worldwide flight hours, has written and published
numerous airline policy and procedures manuals, administered
quality enhancement programs such as ISO 9001-2000, designed
and implemented human resource development training programs
for managers and crewmembers, and been responsible for
the selection, hiring, and evaluation of airline pilots.
Captain Bumgarner has
consulted with major training providers such as Alteon
Training, L.L.C. and the University of Hawaii and is listed
in the U.S. Department of Commerce Guide to Labor Management
Cooperation.
Managing Director Janis S. Bumgarner, JD, is an accomplished
international immigration attorney and a member of the
California State Bar. She formerly served as Chairperson
of the Association of Flight Attendants in Hawaii and
was the National Safety Director for A.F.A. in Washington,
D.C. Ms. Bumgarner is responsible for human resource recruting
and administration.
Vice President, Asia Airline Services, Mr. Shen Wen Cheng,
has more than 35 years of airline experience, including
service as Director of Customer Services, Deputy Director
Human Resources, Deputy Director Flight Operations, Manager
of Cabin Crew, and is a trained ISO 9000 auditor who sucessfully
managed large-scale safety and operations quality enhancement
projects for major Asian airlilnes.
Vice President, Training Services, Captain Garth Martin,
is a Canadian citizen with more than 43 years airline
experience. He has served as Vice President, Flight Operations
for Canadian airlines and has 15 years management and
training experience with major Asian airlines. Most recently
he was General Manager Training for a Taiwan-based airline,
with responsibility for pilot recruiting and all pilot
training programs. In a consulting capacity, he has also
designed and implemented ab initio pilot training
programs that "bridge" the gap between commercial
pilot training and airline pilot jet transition training.
Dr. Ashleigh Merritt is Chief Consulting Psychologist
to Global Flyers. Dr. Merritt earned her Ph.D. from the
University of Texas at Austin and was associated with
Professor Robert Helmreich’s NASA / FAA Aerospace Crew
Research Project. She recently served as Project Manager
with Jean Pariès safety and human factors consulting group,
Dédale, Paris, France and is now a Professor at the University
of Texas. Dr. Merritt is co-author of the seminal book,
Culture at Work in Aviation and Medicine: National, Organizational,
and Professional Influences, and has authored numerous
articles relating to the effects of culture on individuals
and organizations, human error and error management in
aviation, and the development of CRM programs.
